Requirements and Specifications

To achieve high-quality results, it’s essential to understand the relationship between DPI (Dots Per Inch), pixels, and the final print size. Here’s what you need to know:

1. DPI and Pixel Dimensions:

DPI refers to the level of detail in a printed image. Higher DPI means sharper prints, especially for smaller sizes viewed up close.

•Use this formula to calculate the pixel dimensions required for your print:

Width in pixels = Width in inches × DPI

Height in pixels = Height in inches × DPI

2. Resolution Guidelines for Different Prints:

Fine Art and Photography Prints:

300 DPI is mandatory for professional sharpness and accurate details.

•Example: For a 12” × 18” print, you’ll need an image resolution of 3600 × 5400 pixels.

Canvas Prints:

•Use 150–300 DPI, depending on size and viewing distance. Larger canvases viewed from afar can use lower DPI.

•Example: For a 24” × 36” canvas viewed from 2 meters, an image of 3600 × 5400 pixels (150 DPI) is sufficient.

Poster Prints:

•Adjust DPI based on size and viewing distance:

Small Posters (up to A3, 30 × 42 cm): 300 DPI (3600 × 5100 pixels).

Medium Posters (A2 to A1, 42 × 59 cm to 59 × 84 cm): 200–300 DPI.

Large Posters (over A1): 150–200 DPI for distant viewing.

3. File Format Requirements:

JPEG: Best for general prints. Use Google Chrome to upload files.

PNG: Ideal for images requiring transparency.

TIFF: Use for high-resolution, uncompressed images. Files over 200 MB should be shared via Google Drive.

4. Following Website Instructions:

Ensure your uploaded file meets the specified DPI and pixel dimensions to avoid delays. If you’re unsure, please email us for assistance.

Care Instructions

Proper care ensures your prints remain vibrant and intact for years to come. Here’s a professional guide for each type of print:

1. Fine Art and Photography Prints:

Framing: Always use a frame with UV-protective glass to shield your prints from sunlight and fading.

Storage: Keep prints in a cool, dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight.

Handling: Handle prints with clean, dry hands or wear cotton gloves to prevent smudges or oil transfer.

2. Canvas Prints:

Dusting: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid wet cloths or cleaning sprays.

Placement: Keep away from areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens.

Framed Canvases: Ensure that the frame is sturdy and placed in a low-traffic area to prevent accidental damage.

3. Poster Prints:

Mounting and Framing: Laminate posters for extra protection or frame them under glass to prevent creases and moisture damage.

Durability: For outdoor posters, choose water-resistant or tear-resistant materials. Replace them as needed for ongoing exposure to elements.

Storage: Roll unused posters and store them in protective tubes to prevent bending or tearing.

Technical Terms Explained

DPI stands for dots per inch, a measure of image resolution. Higher DPI ensures sharper, more detailed prints. For professional-quality results, 300 DPI is recommended.

OBA stands for Optical Brightening Agents, chemicals that make paper appear brighter. While they enhance vibrancy, OBAs may degrade over time. We offer both OBA-free and OBA-included media options.

The visible size is the portion displayed on the front of the canvas. Additional margins (2–3 cm) are printed for wrapping around the frame.
